Moss (born February 13th 1977) is an ex- American footballer. He was an
American footballer who played for 14 seasons in the National Football League
(NFL) as well as with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders as well as the
New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. He is widely regarded as the best
wide receiver of all-time along with Jerry Rice, he holds the NFL single-season
touchdown reception record (23 in 2007), the NFL single-season record for
touchdown receptions for rookies (17 in 1998) and is second in the NFL all-time
regular season touchdown reception list, with 156. Moss was famous for his
skill in securing catch contests and the term "mossed" is now part of
football's language. Post-football, he was working with ESPN as a studio
analyst for its Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown programs. Moss
was born at Rand, West Virginia. He was a student at DuPont High School. It was
one of two schools which later merged into Riverside High School. There the
student excelled at football, basketball, baseball tracks, and many other
sports. Randy was also a part of the school's debate team. Moss was a DuPont
Panthers' football player who led them to back-toback states championships in
1992 and 1993. Moss was an outstanding wide receiver. He also played as a free
safety and punt return. In 1994, he was honored with the Kennedy Award as the
West Virginia Football Player of the Year. Parade magazine named him to their
All-American high school football team in 1995, and in 2009 the magazine named
him one of the 50 most outstanding high school football players ever.
