Susan Sarandon Bio
It was after the 1968 Democratic convention and there was a casting call for a film with several parts for young people who had disrupted the convention. Two recent graduates of Catholic University in Washington DC went to the auditions in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon, an actor who had trained, was rejected. His wife Susan was chosen for a leading role as Susan Compton, the child of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). In the film Dad Bill kills Susan's drug dealer friend and then befriends Joe (Peter Boyle)-- a bigot who works on an assembly line and who is a collector of guns.Five years after, Sarandon made the film where fans of cult classics are familiar with her as Janet who is entangled with transvestite Dr. Frank n Furter in The The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). More than 15 years after beginning her career Sarandon has finally been actively campaigning for a role that was a hit, Annie in Bull Durham (1988), taking a flight on her own expense from Rome from Rome to Los Angeles. "It was an amazing script ... and did away with the myths that surround it and changed the American definition of success" she stated. "I spent some time there with Kevin Costner, sex some actors in the studio, and then got back on a plane. Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988) as a supporting actor, was her first lover. He had two sons by 1992. This puts Sarandon in an awkward position. She was forced to leave her home to perform the most challenging roles. There were four Academy Award nominations were received in the 1990s. The award for the best actress was presented for Dead Man Walking (1995) was also presented.
